Singletary Receives COVID-19 Relief Grant, Vows to Press On
LA businessman Marcus Singletary’s modern-day experiments with classic music forms will continue.

Music producer/multi-instrumentalist Marcus Singletary and the staff of independent record label Aviation Records have been awarded the 2021 California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant.

Governor Gavin Newsom and the California State Legislature announced the $500 million grant program on November 30, 2020, recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting health and economic crises have been extremely challenging for many Californians. “Obviously, this pandemic-induced recession has had a profound impact, and has required us to think anew and, ultimately, adapt to the changing marketplace,” Newsom stated.

Singletary studied jazz guitar and audio engineering at Musician’s Institute, and is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Communications. He launched the company in 2006 as an outlet for album releases encompassing a diverse array of styles including Americana, fusion, and progressive rock. Of the grant, Singletary says, “Eventually, our collective attention will turn away from the pandemic, just as audiences’ tastes in popular music change, over time. This opportunity ensures that we will continue to press on with our goals of teaching the world about – and placing a modern spin on – some important forms of music that have, in recent times, been largely ignored.”

Marcus Singletary’s music is available for download through Aviation Records on Amazon, Apple Music, and Spotify. For more information, visit www.marcussingletary.com.
