Old Salt Coffee launches a fresh new coffee blend: Liberty Call

Hawaiian based coffee company Old Salt Coffee is delighting navy veterans and lovers of a good cup o’ joe with the launch of its latest coffee blend: Liberty Call.

Liberty Call blends the flavorful Colombian green bean favored by Old Salt Coffee with that of the famous Kona green bean from Hawaii for a sweeter, richer flavor profile.

Liberty Call! Liberty Call!

“As most of us sailed through the Pacific stopping briefly in Hawaii for some liberty from our ships before continuing our journey to the Middle or Far East, we felt the name Liberty Call was a natural fit for this blend of coffee,” explains Dave Fulwider, CEO of Old Salt Coffee.

The packaging for Liberty Call reflects its Hawaiian influence with background images by the renowned Hawaiian tattoo artist, Sailor Jerry, the gold bag represents the beautiful sunsets that can be seen from North Shore with a surfer on the label watching the waves from the beach being the finishing touch.

“We even added a quote from Duke Kahanamoku – ‘Out of Water, I am nothing’ – to highlight the similarities between sailors and surfers and our connection to the oceans we both sail be it with a surfboard or steel hull,” adds Dave.

Over the past years, Old Salt Coffee’s focus has been on developing black coffee blends for the warfighting communities in the US Navy. The company’s decision to launch Liberty Call was sparked by time naval staff spend ashore enjoying some well-deserved R&R while still honoring the deep connection to their roots and the oceans on which they depend for their livelihoods.

“The timing of our latest blend is also driven by the interest generated by those shipmates who interact with us on social media.”

Liberty Call uses the same great specialty Columbian green coffee bean for which Old Salt Coffee is renowned, combining it with a fantastic green coffee bean sourced in Kona, Hawaii.

“We then roast the coffee beans at different temperatures and for different periods to achieve the optimal flavor profile, and capture the sweeter flavonoids found in the Kona bean without any bitterness,” adds Dave.

In the future, Old Salt Coffee plans to expand its reach beyond the e-commerce space into military community exchanges.

“Ironically, we aim to start with AAFES, then move to the Navy Exchanges, all the while growing our e-commerce brand organically and via websites like Amazon and eBay. In the meantime, we will be donating $1 to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society for every bag of Liberty Call Kona Blend sold through our site.”

“Patrons of Old Salt Coffee will be pleased to find that our Liberty Call Coffee Blend remains true to our original goal of bringing sailors together to talk, joke, and do their job, day in and day out, whether on watch at sea, anchored to a desk, or at home,” concludes Dave.

Conclusion

Based out of Kahuku, Hawaii, Old Salt Coffee was founded by a group of navy veterans who love a good cup o’ joe. Their combined passion for proper coffee and the telling of “sea stories” from days past inspired them to create a range of blends fit for old salt sailors that can be enjoyed on watch, in the wardroom, chief’s mess, ready room, on flight decks, mess decks, engine rooms, or in the comfort of home. In addition to its featured blends, the company offers a choice of Old Salt Coffee themed apparel and accessories.
