Jason Trachtenburg asks ‘Why’ in new music video

NYC musician Jason Trachtenburg has toured the world, and appeared on CONAN, Sundance Channel, Nickelodeon and more with his “Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players” project. For his solo outing with his band “The Type”, he has released the new single and video “People Keep Telling Me Why,” with a music video created by cult director Dylan Mars Greenberg. The audio is engineered by Adam Amram, and the song was mixed and mastered by Donnie Carlo.

“This song serves as an explanation to the narrative that has been circulating since the start of the lockdown concerning where people get their information from, and how they like to call out others who get their information from somewhere else.” says Trachtenburg. “The important message is that all sides can show respect for each other without hurting friendships or relationships. There are things in this world more important than news cycles, opinions, and whatever version of ‘facts’ anyone happens to believe in. We are all in this together.”

The video was shot at Gold Sounds in Brooklyn, NY, making use of Dario Argento-esque lighting to highlight the zany and cartoonish nature of the song. “I drew inspiration from old glam rock promo films and giallo cinema to create something that felt surreal and pop at the same time.” says director Dylan Mars Greenberg.

The video includes guitarist Mike Fornatale (Left Banke, the Monks, Moby Grape) Sal Mander, Jake Strauss, Matt Dallow, and Molly Bicks. All the birds in the video were created by Tina Piña (Mother Pigeon)
