International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Announces "RED" Event to Commemorate October as Dyslexia Awareness Month
The International Dyslexia Association is hosting during October Awareness Month a virtual event to raise needed funds and awareness for dyslexia.

September 21, 2020 – International Dyslexia Association, a non-profit education and advocacy organization devoted to issues surrounding dyslexia, has announced a new event to celebrate October as Dyslexia Awareness Month. “IDA Go Red,” the organization’s featured campaign, will encompass several activities, including IDA’s “Virtual RED Soiree.”

Coming October 17, 2020, IDA will host the unprecedented 24 hour “Virtual RED Soiree” event to make a difference in the lives of struggling readers nationwide. Determined to raise over $200,000 in donations, educate thousands globally and raise awareness about dyslexia, the event is expected to attract the viewership of over 100,000 via social media.

Broken into segments, Segment I of the event will feature a virtual red carpet with video interviews of key celebrities, advocates, and professional leaders discussing the importance of the cause. During this time, long-standing corporate supporters of the dyslexia community will be recognized.  Segment II will feature IDA’s signature lip sync battle, which will encourage celebrities, dyslexics, and advocates to submit one-minute lip sync videos, tagged with #IDAGoRed to be shared throughout October. Additionally, individuals will be encouraged to set up fundraising pages and teams to support the movement from anywhere in the world. Segment III will spotlight the Baltimore, Maryland community, home of the IDA, and its local supporters, donors, and leaders in dyslexia and their stories. To conclude, Segment IV will feature a virtual after-party with local and national celebrities with a passion for the cause.

A number of prominent celebrities will be participating, including Jared Blank, a nationally recognized author, Tray Chaney, an actor and author, Jesse Iwuji, a NASCAR driver, Eric Hirschberg, a national recording artist and public relations guru, and former NFL player and recording artist Darnerien McCants.  More celebrities to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
