Oral Health is Essential - Gentle Dentistry’s Response to COVID-19

MINNESOTA – Gentle Dentistry’s doors are open again for all 12 Minnesota locations with new practices in place to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Oral health is vital to overall health, and Gentle Dentistry is committed to providing a safe environment for both new and existing patients to receive essential, non-emergent, and elective dental procedures.

“Many times people do not comprehend that teeth are attached to the body, to the bone and head, and that it is as important to take care of their teeth as their organs,” says Dr. Chad Gehani, the president of the American Dental Association (ADA). Dental health is “vital to overall health” and most dental diseases are preventable when patients receive regular screenings and care.

New procedures Gentle Dentistry has put in place in response to COVID-19 include:

  • Pre-screening questions and online paperwork

  • Patients must call or text the clinic upon arrival and wait inside their vehicle until notified

  • Patients must wear masks and will have temperature checks upon entering

  • Increased PPE (masks, gowns and gloves for all staff; and face shields for DDS and clinical staff)

  • New air filtration systems and other equipment to minimize aerosols

Dr. Mathew Messina, a spokesperson for the ADA, emphasises that dental offices are safe. Gentle Dentistry is following all the new protocols set by the ADA’s Return to Work Interim Guidance toolkit.
