Davies began his professional training by earning his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Vermont in 1982. Three years later, Davies was a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor. Upon graduation, Davies was permitted to practice law in the states of New York and Connecticut. He also has the qualifications to practice law in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Tax Court, and the Federal District Courts for the Northern and Western Districts of New York.
Davies has also gained his professional experience and leadership skills by being part of the military. In 1983, Davies became part of the United States Navy JAG Student Program. After he took the Bar Exams for Connecticut and New York, Davies went to Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island. While there, he was certified as a military attorney, also known as a Judge Advocate. During his time at a San Francisco naval base in 1986, he started his estate planning legal practice, which gave him more trial experience. Three years later, Davies left active duty and returned to his native Central New York. There, he joined the Naval Reserves and became a Lieutenant Commander. He later became part of the New York National Guard and was the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for the 174th Fighter Wing in Syracuse. He was also part of the Connecticut Air National Guard where he served as Headquarters Air Staff Judge Advocate.
Taking on leadership roles in the military that allowed him to further his legal career led Davies to start his law firm in 1993. He concentrates on tax planning and estate planning for New York residents. This is a valuable service since many families and individuals are not sure how to properly divide their assets and property in the event of their passing or if they become incapacitated.
