New York, NY, USA – Janix Marie Mendez more commonly referred to as Janix Mendez is a Dominican singer, songwriter, producer, LGBTQ+ activist & advocate, and model. She was born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, but then shifted to New York with her family to continue her life’s journey. Janix was declared to be a boy at birth, however, she recognized herself as a girl since she was a 2-year-old baby. After it became clear it was “not just a phase”, her parents sought professional help and found the head of the psychiatric unit at Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Ben Ward, who later stated that “She was never a boy”.
Personally, Mendez has always demonstrated a strength of character. Whether it is about embracing her individuality and pursuing what is she passionate about or being an LGBTQ+ activist and helping others like her to get their basic rights. nothing is stopping Janix Mendez from expressing her true self. In her words: “I was never lucky to have an opportunity to show my brightness into the world, but now since this is my time, let’s do it, that’s all I had ever learned from those who support and love me, LET’S DO IT!”
Janix Mendez used to have vocal classes in middle school which led her to participate in competitions, events, and parties as a singer. In other words, she found her passion for music from an early age of 8 and was making EDM music by the age of 9. She was a big Lady Gaga fan and was further inspired by music after discovering the music of Madeon (one of the producers working on Gaga’s Artpop). She self-learned music theory by watching tutorials on YouTube. Her dedication to her craft took her from city to city to perform and engage her fans. Since tasting early success, Janix has released a range of albums that have earned her rightful fame and recognition in the industry.
‘Nostalgic Era’ was her first unofficial album that comprised collection of digital singles that she produced when she was young. Mendez then moved on to produce the Thanksgiving-themed EP Hard Out Here (for a bitch) in October 2017. She entered into a contract with Republic Records I 2019, after which her first studio album (Pinkity) was released on 27 January 2020. The record was preceded with a nine-week-long promotional campaign, during which Mendez released one single per week with an accompanying visual video.
Currently, Janix Mendez has collaborated with Universal Music Group to release her brand-new pop song titled “Grateful”.
