Wolfpack Receives Honors for “She Kills Monsters” and Huskies Receive Honors for “The Imaginary Invalid”

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Oct 1, 2019 – The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) commends the theater programs at Cosumnes Oaks High School and Sheldon High School for being recipients of the Youth Elly Awards at the September 8, 2019 reception. Cosumnes Oaks’ Wolfpack Theatre program was awarded for lighting design for their production of She Kills Monsters. Sheldon’s THEATREworks program were awarded for their overall production, set design, sound design, supporting female and supporting male for their production of The Imaginary Invalid.

EGUSD Visual and Performing Arts Director, Sofia Fojas applauded the awards saying, “What I am particularly thrilled about was the focus on production elements such as lighting, set and sound design. These two productions demonstrated a mastery of stage craft on many levels. It’s evident that the community support for the arts at these schools is outstanding. It truly takes a village.”

Cosumnes Oaks High School also received a total of 12 additional Youth Elly Award nominations for its production of Shrek and She Kills Monsters, where Sheldon High School received a total of 23 Youth Elly Award nominations for The Imaginary Invalid and Cinderella productions. Franklin High School was also nominated for four Youth Elly Award nominations for its production of As You Like It.
